Russischer Schauspieler, Dichter, Sänger. 16 Jahre lang festes Ensemblemitglied am Moskauer Taganka-Theater und Darsteller in zahlreichen Filmen. Seine herausragende Popularität aber erhielt der 42jährige durch seine Lieder, von denen die wenigsten zu seinen Lebzeiten auf Platte erschienen. So wurden seine Kassetten millionenfach privat kopiert, und seine Texte zirkulierten in Millionen Kopien. Wie kein zweiter hat Vissotzki die Gefühle seiner Landsleute getroffen - und zwar unabhängig von Personengruppen. Intelektuelle, Arbeiter, Jugendliche und Kriegsveteranen - sie alle ken-nen seine Lieder. Als Vissotzki im Juli 1980 an Herzversagen starb, erlebte Moskau eine der größten spontanen Versammlungen; 30.000 bis 40.000 Menschen gaben ihm das letzte Geleit. Sein Grab wurde zur Pilgerstätte.
